Our highly trained staff help students develop their interests into lifelong skills. Club Viking offers a rotating slate of after school activities, including swim lessons, indoor soccer, art, music, Lego Mindstorms®, Magic the Gathering®, Dungeons and Dragons®, and many others.
Students are grouped similarly by age and ability and classes are limited in size to best accommodate students’ needs.
Our aquatic staff blend traditional swimming curriculum with Haugland Learning Center’s HBS system of behavior management to structure lessons specifically for students on the Autism spectrum.
Special emphasis is placed on water safety and drowning prevention. We offer both one-on-one and group lessons (groups are limited to four swimmers).
We have lessons for every level and age of swimmer, from beginner to advanced learning levels.
Because students with Asperger’s and Autism are sometimes challenged by appropriate social interactions, the Autism after school program and an Asperger’s after school program staff use class time to organically practice specific skills like turn-taking, team building, two-way communication, and compromising.
Additionally, we have over ten years of experience in the field of Autism and Asperger’s, and we bring the same successful classroom environment to after school activities.
After school activities are scheduled by the quarter, and Club Viking’s quarters run concurrently with Haugland Learning Center’s school year.
